Deportation Migrants.jpeg

HAC Haiti Executive Director, Samuel Darguin, Council Member Mathieu Eugene, and Assemblymember Rodneyse Bichotte Hermelyn and the community stood in solidarity at today's Stop Deportation Flights to Haiti Rally at Brooklyn Borough Hall.

We want to congratulate our Executive Director of @HACHaiti, @SDarguin, and this incredible team on a whirlwind trip to South Texas. Trekking across the state in an RV to provide aid, resources, and basic necessities to our Haitian brothers and sisters being released from detention with virtually nothing. Our work is ongoing and cannot continue without your donations and support.

We want to especially thank our invaluable partners on the ground, @CMFarahLouis, Councilmember-Elect Rita Joseph, Ritha Pierre ( @blackivymedia ), George Sainteus, @cccinfoorg, activist Keith White, and Alphonso Bernard.

HAC–Haiti

On August 14th, a 7.2 magnitude earthquake hit the southwestern region of Haiti killing over 1200 people and devastating the country once again. Our team was on the ground the same day assessing the damage and learning how best we could serve our community partners heavily affected by this disaster.

Hurricane Matthew
October 2016

HAC–Haiti

Remanents from the 2010 earthquake were still visible when the category 4 hurricane hit southwestern Haiti. Because this section of the country is where the majority of agriculture production takes place, the hurricane not only killed hundreds but destroyed most of the livestock and crops ready for harvest . . . leaving millions in need of assistance. HAC-Haiti was one of the first teams on the ground distributing food across multiple towns and continued to provide that necessity as well as building material for families to rebuild their homes.

Earthquake
January 2010

HAC–Haiti

The 7.0 magnitude earthquake hit 15 miles southwest of the capital, Port-au-Prince killing hundreds-of-thousands, damaging 4000 schools and leaving millions displaced and need of assistance with over 70% of the population already living below the poverty line. HAC-Haiti opened up their school doors to provide a reliable site for relief teams, save space for programs, and hot meals for the community.
